Tech stocks fall as economic results weigh on sector
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Technology stocks mostly fell in early trading Thursday due to broad market concerns about the latest economic data, which showed the U.S. economy slowing in the fourth quarter of 2007. Leading tech stocks in the red included Hewlett-Packard Co. , Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp. . The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell 13 points to 2,340, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index and the Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index also lost ground.
