Scythe Zipang CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] Scythe is renowned for their uber large CPU coolers. These high performance coolers are normally a favourite among gamers and overclockers alike. However, silencing is normally a large problem that is entailed on a large variety of these heat sink and fan combinations. Today though, we have another CPU cooler from the Japanease manufacturer Scythe, the Scythe Zipang. This cooler doesn’t just pack good performance though, but it’s also relatively quiet at its rated 21dBA. Let’s give it a spin…

Xigmatek HDT-SD964 CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] We’ve seen a lot of heatpipe contact coolers recently and they’ve all been quite good. One manufacturer that has been implementing the technology on many of its heat-sinks is Xigmatek and today I have another of one of their HDT series coolers for review. Read on to find out how it performs.

Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q2 2008
[Frostytech.com] After publishing the first quarterly comparison article of the series, our methodology was adjusted to include test results with both reference and performance cooling fans. A follow-up article comparing the Vendetta 2 vs TRUE vs HDT-S1283 was later published using the new methods, and the results more accurately illustrated the performance an overclocking enthusiast might receive compared to someone who buys the product and uses it in the stock form. Benchmark Reviews strives to offer the overclocker and hardware enthusiast community solid evidence reflecting the true performance of computer products through rigorous testing and evaluation. I personally understand that many readers who visit Benchmark Reviews have been involved with other community websites for years, and therefore take our test results personally. So now that our test process has been reworked, we have collected the most complete source of benchmark results possible and gathered in a controlled environment. The purpose of this second article of our series is to document performance and declare the best CPU coolers available as of Q2 2008.

Next Generation Cooler: Liquid Metal-Based CPU Cooler from Danamics
It is announced by UK-based Bios Magazine that world’s first liquid-metal based CPU cooler will soon become commercially available and shipped. Drawing power of just 1W, Danish company Danamics claims its LM-10 cooler outperforms traditional air-cooled heat sink and most watercooled system.  Liquid metal is a key component coming with 2 advantages. Its superior thermo physical properties […]

Scythe Zipang 140mm CPU Cooler Review
[Frostytech.com] “The Scythe Zipang is top-down heatsink with a huge ~140mm fan on top. A series of 6 copper heat pipes make this heatsink capable of cooling down an Intel Quad Core CPU as the lowest noise levels. We put it to the test and compare its performance to 45 other popular CPU coolers.”

OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU Cooler

OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] With direct heat pipe technology being all the rage now a days more and more manufacturers are designing new coolers with this technology at their base. OCZ’s second attempt at such a cooler incorporates other features to allow for excellent cooling effectiveness and quiet operation.

OCZ Vendetta 2 Direct-Heatpipe CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] Since reviewing a vast array of direct heat-pipe coolers over the past week or two, we’ve come to a conclusion that the performance offering from them is pretty damn good. The prime examples of HDT coolers we’ve tested are mainly from the likes of Xigmatek and Sunbeamtech. At Tech-Reviews today we’re testing a direct heatpipe CPU Cooler from the widely known OCZ, introducing the Vendetta 2…

Scythe Orochi 10-Heatpipe CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] I have seen more than my fair share of coolers in the past ranging from the more conservative OEM coolers to the weird and wonderful world of aftermarket coolers. So you might think that I wouldn’t want to review any more, but when I was asked if I would review the Scythe Orochi - a ten heatpipe monster - I just couldn’t say no.

OCZ Vendetta 2 HDT CPU Cooler OCZTVEND2

OCZ Vendetta 2 HDT CPU Cooler OCZTVEND2
Computer hardware is an ever-evolving industry, and since Moores law only applies to an exponentially growing transistor count then there should probably be another law for cooling. In the very recent past there have been two major trends which have accelerated the performance potential of CPU cooler. That first development was the use of heat-pipes to directly contact with the CPU surface; which resulted in the Heat-pipe Direct Touch technology. The second development is by no mean a new concept, just new to our industry in specific. For many years now heatsinks have been full of right angles, but very recently companies have begun to recognize the need to disrupt smooth airflow and reduce the laminar skin effect which allows air to travel just above the solid surface. Manufacturers like OCZ have used both of these trends in their new Vendetta 2 CPU cooler. Benchmark Reviews will see how much this effects the overall performance as we test OCZTVEND2 against a large segment of competitor products.

Thermalright TRue Black 120 CPU Cooler
[Frostytech.com] “Thermalright is now set to further capitalize on the success of the Ultra-120 eXtreme with the release the TRue Black 120. While physically identical to the Ultra-120 eXtreme, other than the new black nickel finish, the TRue Black comes with another set of clips to attach a second fan in a push/pull configuration and Thermalright has thrown in a small tube of their improved thermal compound, Chill Factor 2.”

OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU cooler
[Frostytech.com] Just recently OCZ released a new and improved version of their award winning Vendetta CPU cooling solution aptly named the Vendetta 2. While this name is not what you would call imaginative, we certainly understand why they would want to keep such a distinguished brand name alive. Unlike the original model which also had an exposed heatpipe base but was only sized for a 92mm fan, the Vendetta 2 is a full size 120mm design but it has kept the unique double V look and feel of the original.
