Music and the Environment

Music and the Environment
Digital music. Is it better for the environment to buy CDs or to download music to an i-Pod or MP3 player?

dittmerdan: setting up HSPDA modem on Ubuntu (Wired)
i have had it work either way. i run many distros as virtual machines. it works like a rom. basically like the live cd. sometimes things will install without writing to disk. but sometimes it dont. linux is very touchy sometimes. just wait till you start to try to install something from source code. get a source code converter to convert to your distro compiler then install it to the system. sheesh. packages are a heck alot easier to deal with.

reason for downloading as source is smaller download size and also you can change things to your desire. and/or fix bugs.

linux has faster downloading speeds. reason is the protocals is more well written. and designed better. so you get faster speeds. it sounds kinda fishy but true

has very low compatibility from the box. but you can install wine and add things to wine. it is possible to play a game solely designed for windows vista in linux. its just you need the proper programming. and no distro comes with anything like that for legal reasons. but its out there. anything that is done can be undone.

there is thousands out there some has better software packages like 10 installation cds. some has better designed GUI different kernals etc. before xwindows linux was all command line driven. it has came along way over the years. why ubuntu is my favorite right now. is its determination to make the best os out there and most easy to use for the general public. but no its not "the best"

once you get the hang of using it try setting up a lamp. linux apache mysql and php there is tutorials for that too online. and using ubuntu that comes with a firewall now built in. you cant go wrong. and with raid and/or an array of IP's / pc's you will have yourself one hell of a server. reliable fast and secure.
