I am pretty sure I remember reading literature for some of them stating that you could chain them together. However, I'm not positive if you can RAID them if you do that. You'll have to do some research into that.

Another thought is to maybe get a larger RAID solution and just add drives to it as they're needed.

Another thought is.. do you access all 2.5TB regularly and/or is it updated all of the time? If not maybe just look into a tape backup to archive what isn't used frequently (or at all) and only keep the data online that you use frequently?

Thanks Bayp,

Prob need to keep looking for a solution before I splash out tho, mainly music and movies that I have stored. Have the hard copies on DVD & CD, so nothing is permanently lost, just the time it takes to rip everything again. Taped back up just wouldn't work for me because I never think of backing something up until it's gone and even with the best intentions that's a pattern I'm likely to repeat.

Raid would work because I just have to replace a drive and I'm sorted again but I don't want to have to go out and buy something that can take 18 drives right off the bat as even as a bare bones that's gonna empty my wallet quicker than a weekend in Vegas.
